On November 14, 2019 in the chess hall on the National Sports Academy – Sofia, an information meeting of members of the International Society for Applied Chess was held. The event was dedicated to the research project of Prof. Dr. Sabine Vollstaedt – Klein „The Chess as an Add-on Therapy against Substance Use Disorder”. The project is funded by the Central Institute for Mental Health in Mannheim, University of Heidelberg, Germany.
The chairman of the organization – Chief Assistant Professor Radislav Atanasov – Master of Sports and International Chess Arbiter, presented the project and shared his experience of participating in a workshop of therapeutic chess, held in Mannheim as part of the project.
Chess tasks developed by the Spanish Chess Club “Magic” were presented, which develop the cognitive skills of people suffering from addictions.
